Learning ProgramsFor information on Sunday School and catechism, see the Learning page. Youth Groups & Youth CafeYouth activities for junior and senior high youth are planned in cooperation with other Indianapolis Lutheran congregations. Junior High students are in Confirmation classes on Sunday morning. Youth Cafe, a class for grades 9 to 12, meets Sunday mornings at 9:45 on the 3rd floor. Friends are ALWAYS welcome! Volunteers in this ministry can lead Sunday morning classes or host a Youth Group event. Volunteers in this ministry should be adults rather than teens. Parent GardenThis fellowship time for families with children 5 and under meets on Sunday mornings at 9:45 in the first floor lounge. Discussion topics vary as they are led by the Holy Spirit! Kid PatchThis group for families and their children (in grades K-5) meets approximately once per month for service, fellowship, or both! Families sign up to host their choice of activity for the month they choose. Past activities have included filling boxes for military and college students, filling Easter baskets for the children at Lutherwood, waterpark fun days, and more. The only limit is the imagination! Volunteers in this ministry are the host families who choose and coordinate the activity/event. EnrichmentEnrichment is another learning opportunity for children from 3-5 years of age. After the Children's Sermon, parents can escort their children to the Enrichment room on the first floor. The children will learn an age-appropriate lesson based on the Lectionary, followed by a song and an activity to enhance the lesson. This session lasts approximately 20 minutes, after which children return to the Sanctuary to continue worship. Volunteers in this ministry serve on a rotating schedule; frequency is based on the number of volunteers. Volunteers can be older teens or adults. NurseryBethlehem’s nursery is open during worship services and education hour. It is staffed by paid child-care providers who will lovingly care for your infant or toddler. Advent and ChristmasA Birthday Party for Jesus and other activities aim to instill in the children an appreciation for the true meaning of Christmas. Souper Bowl of CaringDuring worship services on Super Bowl Sunday, our youth participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring, collecting funds in soup kettles for local food pantries. Vacation Bible School - June 14-16, 2010Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Pleasant View Lutheran Church hosted the 2010 VBS at Pleasant View on June 14-16. Our theme was "One Counts!" This theme impressed on the children that: VBS is for preschool through fifth graders. Sixth graders and older serve as our helpers and assistants. As Jesus loves us, so we can love others! We are baptized one at a time, each of us, and our baptism is a sign to each individual that God’s great love applies to us in particular; and we are called by God to busy ourselves being God’s child wherever we are, making a difference for God. Our "One Counts!" theme is about faith and love. Faith that we ourselves matter to God; love for others around us. |
