One Sunday each month (usually the third Sunday), starting about 9:30 a.m., we feast on a bountiful and beautiful pitch-in brunch. This is a good time (between services) to meet others in the congregation.
All adults are welcome each month to “Dine Out” at a selected Indianapolis restaurant. You may sign up to host — which means you pick the restaurant and make the reservation.
“Dining In” groups are organized each year to meet in one another’s homes through the year for an evening of homemade food and fun.
“Free for Lunch?”
A daytime alternative for those who would like to visit over a meal is “Free for Lunch?” – at 11:30 on fourth Tuesdays (usually). Sometimes the meal is brought in, sometimes we brown-bag it.
The Bethlehem Congregational Retreat is an opportunity to be spiritually renewed and refreshed, to connect more deeply with God, nature and fellow campers. It is generally held in the fall.
Advent & Christmas
Women of the congregation gather with friends for Advent by Candlelight, an evening of calmness and serenity, dessert and devotions.
Every year we celebrate the feast of St. Lucia (special to Scandinavian Americans) with a Sunday morning smorgasbord of desserts from Scandinavian and other cultures.
On Christmas Eve we have punch and Christmas cookies between the evening services.
Each year we prepare a Sunday morning version of the traditional Shrove Tuesday pancake breakfast for everyone.
On Wednesdays during Lent we have soup and salad suppers at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Lenten service of Evening Prayer.
The summer brings fellowship around Lemonade on the Lawn each Sunday after church. Everyone looks forward to the outdoor worship service and congregational picnic at Broad Ripple Park in early August (pictured above).
Other Special Events
From time to time other special events are publicized in the Bethlehem Blaze and in the Sunday bulletin.
